The second-annual Multicultural Seder, sponsored by The
Asbell Center for Jewish Life, Diversity Initiatives, Religious
Life, Student Senate, Music department, Religion department,
Judaic Studies department, Hillel, Umoja and Abolish, brought
together various campus organizations to celebrate liberation
from the chains of oppression of all people in every part
of the world.
The music for this event was performed by The Afro-Semitic
Experience from New Haven, CT. The event also included
a performance by Dickinson's new spoken-word poetry group,
The Silent Poets, readings from the Haggadah and a recitation
of 10 modern plagues which affect people all over the world.Multicultural

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese held its annual
Paella Dinner in the Depot on Wednesday, April 2. The dinner
featured a flamenco performance and traditional Spanish

Students and faculty members from the East Asian
Studies Department ushered in the lucky year of the Rat
in the HUB social hall during their celebration of the Chinese
New Year.
The Flavors of Asia Dinner included foods from the Middle East, Indian sub continent, Thailand and Burma. Students and members of the Dickinson community enjoyed watching dance performances from different regions of Asia. Sponsored by the Middle Eastern Club, Dickinson Desi Association and Club ASIA.
At the annual Diversity Week celebration, hosted by Dickinson College’s Office of Diversity Initiatives, there were a variety of events, including a Apollo Night, a Diversity Expo and the Diversity Monologue Contest.
On Oct. 25, the annual Semana Poetica—Poetry Week—featured bi- and tri-lingual readings from internationally recognized poets.
Students and community members joined the Middle Eastern Club for a night of eating and listening to Middle Eastern music at the annual dinner. The theme was The Middle East in Your Life.
The Latin-American Club hosted its annual dinner featuring Mexican food as well as Latin-American and Caribbean dancing.
Students also had the opportunity to sample foods from Asia, India, Africa, France and Spain as well as locally grown fare at several themed dinners. The events also featured culturally themed performances by students and professional music and dance groups.
