day of service

These opportunities are aimed as first time service experiences and opening student’s eyes to see needs of the community beyond the limestone walls.  Students, faculty, and staff join together to recognize the interdependence of Dickinson and the Carlisle community.

Days of Service this Semester:

United Way Clean Up
Saturday, September 13th 9am-12noon
Walk through downtown Carlisle and help to pick up trash to make the community a better place.  Join others from United Way to care for our community right off campus.

Halloween Hootenanny with Possibility Place
Saturday, October 25th 11:30-4pm
Possibility Place is the first handicap-accessible playground in the Harrisburg area.  It is a playground built for ALL children.  Help set-up and run the activities for Possibility Place's annual Halloween Hootenanny!  Assist with face painting, pumpkin painting, cupcake decorating, games, and food stations!

Giving Tree
Starts Monday, November 14th
During the holiday season take some time to visit the Giving Tree and share your heart through a gift to a child at the Mechanicsburg Children’s Home.  This home houses about 50 orphans, has an emergency shelter, and provides transitional housing for children 8-18 who are homeless for many reasons.  Pick a name or pick a gift, all the gifts will given to children at the home during the holiday season. Gifts should be put under the tree by Friday, December 6th.
