1998-99 Mermaid Players Season

Misalliance

by George Bernard Shaw

October 30, 31 &
November 2,3 1998

A typical weekend at the Tarleton country home, where the family gathers to celebrate and engagement and - of course - debate. When a Russian aviatrix and her dashing pilot literally "crash" the party, the stage is set for one of Shaw'w most entertaining and provocative comedies.

Sunday in the Park with George

Book by James Lapine; Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

February 19, 20, 21, 22 1999

The winner of the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for drama, Sunday in the Park was hailed by The New York Times as a "watershed event in the development of the serious Broadway musical." Based on the life and work of French painter Georges Seurat, this Broadway musical is a milestone in the artform. Seurat's famous painting, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte comes to musical and dramatic life in this unique piece of theatre that tunefully explores the joys and challenges of the creative process.
