Synopsis - Information and telephone numbers for the insurance company, networks, Third Party Administrators and the Health Care Advocate.
Understanding health insurance can be very difficult and complex at times. First there is the insuance company which underwrites the policy. This year the student health insurance company is Shared Services Insured Group (SSIG). Then there is a Third Party Administrator, known as the TPA. They process the claims, pay providers and reimburse patients for covered expenses. The TPA this year is Administrative Concepts Inc. (ACI). Last but not least there is usually a Healthcare Advocate, or liaison between the patient and the TPA. Your health care advocate is Hulse QM.
Most health insurance companies have contracts with 'networks'. Networks are groups of providers and pharmacies that agree to accept less payment for their services. The networks associated with the current student health insurance is First Health and MEDCO.
No claims forms will be required unless you are seeking reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses. If you do need a claim form, you can find them on the links at the top of this page.
