James La Rose Wins First Marco Biagi Prize

James La Rose ’04 became this spring the first winner of the newly established Marco Biagi Prize. The award goes to that student who best fulfills the educational and cultural goals established by the college’s K. Robert Nilsson Center for European Study.
Awarded by the Amici di Dickinson (Friends of Dickinson), a support group in Bologna of local citizens founded by Prof. Biagi, this annual prize honors the memory of Prof. Biagi, assassinated in 2002, and recognizes a student of distinction. The award was announced by Charles Jarvis, professor of history and director of the Bologna Center, at the program’s farewell dinner. Presenting the award to La Rose were: Marina Biagi, wife of Prof. Biagi; Puccio Pucci, president of the Amici; and Graziella Vaccari, secretary of the Amici.
