Jim Quiggle '75 is director of communications for the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud,
an organization of consumer groups, public interest organizations, government agencies and insurers. On May 3, 2006 he appeared in a story on ABC's "Good Morning America."
The story, part of the show's "Gotcha!" series, featured individuals who filed fradulent workers' compensation claims.
Consumer correspondent
Elisabeth Leamy showed video of the claimants engaging in physical activities despite being unable to work due to disabilities.
Jim was featured in the story as an expert on the damage that fake injury claims cause to the workers' compensation system. The GMA story is available online through AOL's Video on Demand.
A 20-year veteran of public relations and journalism, Jim has worked for the coalition since March 2000. He has headed public relations for two major national trade associations and was a public relations consultant and business journalist, specializing in high-tech, banking, trucking, youth services and other industries.

When asked how his Dickinson education prepared him for his career, Jim replied:
Dickinson gave me the training and street cred to break into public relations. As a small college, Dickinson let me report news for The Dickinsonian as soon as I signed up. That let me quickly get my writer's sea legs: I learned what news is, how to stay cool as the clock ticked down to deadline, how not to misspell the soccer coach's last name, and how to churn out passable copy at 4 a.m. after my 7th cup of coffee.
These were the building blocks of public relations (except for the 4 a.m. part). The Dickinsonian polished my fledgling resume enough for me to land a full-time job at the Carlisle Evening Sentinel after graduation. That led to my current work in DC, which includes recent appearances on Geraldo, ABC World News Tonight, NBC News, CBS News, Court TV and others.
